Founder's Letter

When I was a kid visiting relatives in Ghana, I would pick up all sorts of treats that I managed to stuff into my suitcase. Some of my favorites were raw shea butter and black soap, natural products that are native to West Africa. Back then, these items were crudely packaged in either clear cellophane plastic or brown wrapping paper.

In the past few years, the African continent has exploded with export-ready, value-added, branded products that are on par with items that we would typically import from abroad. It is Africa showing that we are more than just receivers of goods or exporters of raw materials, but that we too can transform our indigenous ingredients into something beautiful to share with the world.

In peace and prosperity,
