Natural Shea Butter
Comfort Adjahoe Jennings is not afraid of a little competition. For over 25 years, Comfort has been mastering the craft of spinning shea butter into soothing soaps and skin emollients through Ele Agbe, her shea butter company. So adept and confident is she in her trade that she trains her own competition. "The market is big, whatever you have God gave it to you to share not to keep," she said. In the early 1990s, Comfort was one of the first beneficiaries of a US government sponsored shea butter technical support project in Ghana. She continues to share her expertise by training women and children in livelihoods crafts like jewellery-making, producing shea butter products, packaging and labeling, and product quality and certifications.

When did you start your business?
So I started Ele Agbe in 1996 and it was later rebranded to Shea Shop.
Why did you start?
I’ve been an entrepreneur all my life, that’s my calling since age 10. Looking for a job here and there and not getting, I decided to do something for myself.
What motivates you?
The impact that I make. I also train [others] alongside creating jobs.
What do you wish people knew about your business?
For me, I wish people knew that I aim to touch lives, and to create an enabling environment so we discover who we are and build ourselves.
What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
I pray and have my morning devotion.
What is your favorite detoxing regimen?
I like to take some time off work, shut my mind and process things. I love green tea, activated charcoal powder.
What are you most grateful for?
I’m grateful for the gift of life.
What’s the last thing you do before you go to bed?
I pray, because the next minute is not in your hands.
What makes you awesome?
I love meeting people, engaging them and making them feel a sense of belonging.
Where do you like to have the most fun?
Teaching children, creating fun activities during training time.
Do you have a favorite mantra?
Life is a battlefield, so if you leave it to yourself you will lose. Leave it to God. That’s the reason for our slogan “ELE AGBE” which translates to, "Because He lives."
